Getting Started with the Reusable Learning Object Specification System
12. Collaborating and Sharing your Specification with Others
The RLO Specification System allows authors to add any number of other system users as collaborators on their RLO specification. Once another user has been added as a collaborator, they will see this RLO specification in their list of “RLO Specifications You Collaborate On” when they next log in to the system. They can then select that RLO and contribute to the specification development.
* Collaborators have the same access as the specification creator but without the ability to add other users as collaborators.
Adding a new collaborator is achieved through:
- Selecting the RLO you wish to work on
- Click the “Add collaborators” button
- The author is then presented with a list of system users and checking the associated checkbox followed by the “Save Changes” button new collaborators will be added.
Unchecking any selected users within the same screen will remove those user’s collaborative access to the RLO specification.
Other Ways of Sharing an RLO Specification
The RLO Specification System provides a mechanism to share a read-only version of the RLO Specification both as a textural version of the specification and also a direct link to the RLO preview version. Sharing an RLO specification is enabled by:
- Selecting the RLO you wish to work on / share from your list of RLO specifications.
- Once the Specification is loaded click the “Edit RLO Details” button.
- On the proceeding page scroll down to the section titled “RLO Specification Public/Private Status” and check the Public radio button
- Press the “Save Amendments” button.
- Once the save has completed, return to the RLO Specification screen. Two links will now be available, one to the RLO Specification and the other to the RLO Preview, which can be shared as desired.
* This sharing can be turned off at any point so even if thr link was shared, access would not be available.
