Getting Started with the Reusable Learning Object Specification System

5. Creating Content Sections within an RLO Specification

Content sections within the RLO Specification System will be the individual pages of the developed RLO. Each section has three components:

  1. Text Content – this will appear on the left-hand column of the developed RLO
  2. Supporting Content - this will appear on the right-hand column of the developed RLO and typically contains image, animation, video or interactive elements
  3. Author’s Comments – Information the author wishes to add to supplement the other content within the section and may, for example, be an instruction to the RLO developer.

* Only a Section Title and Text Content is required (Supporting Content and Author’s Notes are optional)

Creating a New Section

To create a new section, select the RLO Specification you wish to work on and scroll down to the end of the list of current sections and click the “Add New Section” button. The user will be presented with the contents of the section in editable fields.

All the fields, with the exception of Section title, have WYSIWYG editors which allow some basic formatting of content but can also allow the addition of images and example activities within the content.

Once you have provided all the required information, click the “Create RLO Section” button to create the new section. A success message will be displayed and you will be given the opportunity to create another new section. To edit the new section, click the  “Edit the your newly created section” button (within the success message).
