Getting Started with the Reusable Learning Object Specification System
2. What is an Reusable Learning Object (RLO) Specification
An RLO specification is created by the RLO author in response to their learning objective, combined with the output of the collaborative storyboard workshop.
The specification establishes the learning objective of the RLO and describes in detail the textural content of the RLO, its required media elements (such as image, animation, video and audio components) and any interactive elements or activities.
Details of any assessments, glossary terms and external resources should also be recorded.
Once completed, the RLO specification is used by the reviewers as part of the “Peer Review 1” process. Once this review process is complete (and any adjustments in response to Peer Review 1 are made) the specification is used by the developer to begin the process of development of the final working RLO.
